So I found this old Phillipson Eponite x70 spinning rod in a bundle of "junk" rods for $5.00 at a sportsman's show and really fell in love with the grain on the blank. It had a beat up long cork (wrapped around a wooden dowel) grip and metal bar for a reel seat, was missing the tip and a few of the spinning rod guides so I thought it would make a nice conversion. This is my first glass build, so I would welcome any feedback. This turned out to be a 7' probably 5-wt. although I haven't had time to cast it yet to see what it will throw. I am grateful for the advice to use citristrip on the blank from this list, and for other eponite pics to guide me as I wrapped this. I tried to preserve the spiral style of wrap common to this rod. Let me know what you folks think. | So I found this old Phillipson Eponite x70 spinning rod in a bundle of "junk" rods for $5.00 at a sportsman's show and really fell in love with the grain on the blank. Pics can be viewed at [1] The library is public.
